fun day....

well, another weekend that vanished. i did not do or go, except for church yesterday, which was such fun! i missed last week, so i was dry...i find that i have a noticeable difference in my countenance if i miss church...have you noticed that? gotta feed the Holy Spirit...

anyway, when i got there, i remembered it's MISSIONs month. i love missions month. i'm not sure where the apostrophe goes in that statement, so let's just agree to leave it out, okay?

as i remember it, i started going to my church in late summer of 2001, accepted the Lord on 9-11-01, and a hop-skip-jump later, it was MISSIONs month. i thought church was just great. there were huge flags everywhere, people dressed in native costume, and guest speakers from all over the world. some of the oldsters i hung out with at that time rumbled, because it was out of their routine. however, i LOVED it. what a chance to see how big God is in the world! how much greater to appreciate Him when you see people love Him from everywhere.

anyway. yesterday was a taste of that again. i was surprised this time, because it was a native american band (from someplace in Canada) that visited. for all the different cultures represented in our church, from the Congo to the Ukraine, we have almost no native americans. well, one lady, a single mom with 2 boys who has given her testimony about how God brought her out of alcoholism and near suicide. but, you'd think given the ratio of natives in Sioux Falls, there might be more...wouldn't you?

this band was called "broken walls" - the guy was pretty bold in his preaching. basically said that white people suck for what they have done to natives...and asked us to ask for repentance. mostly though, he encouraged people to dance and worship in some traditional fashions. which our cute little white-bread congregation agreed to! i ended up dancing around in a circle holding hands with 2 very left-footed white middle-aged men. it was hilariously good. plus, the worship was WONDERFUL. i really felt the Spirit move...

oh. a whole more month of missions....can hardly wait to see what is next!
