fire free fourth

hey all.

hope you had a great weekend! i had a relaxing time in lincoln, although the weather did not exactly cooperate. it was kind of dreary on both friday and saturday, causing us to skip the fireworks, and make the call to stay indoors.

on saturday, we did trek down to the haymarket in lincoln. the farmer's market was going on, and it's a good one.

i got a "monster" succie to accompany some of my other ones. isn't he cute?

i also got some new bling, a leather-ish cuff to wear. it matched my outfit at the time. of course.

i came home yesterday to an ever-growing garden, complete with a beautiful clematis greeting (and a very sunny day).

apparently, it rained in these parts over the weekend, too. i brought home the rain barrel that kristie's dad made for me, and just need to get it hooked up....and painted, of course. life is good over here on the forty, thanks lou for the fun weekend.

um, I have ice cream buckets lined up on the sidewalk collecting rain water...suppose I should ask ol' Jerry to make me a rain bucket or two, too...

glad you had a nice time

we are bug bitten, tired, and sunburned, sigh...welcome to July

Your weekend sounds wonderful, and that succie looks right at home with his new family.

Even though Clematis sounds like a venereal disease, I want one. :-)

We've been talking about a rain barel for AGES, I'm jealous of yours.

What variation of Clematus is that? My neighbor has one with white blooms that arrive in late summer. And I too refer to it as clemidia because i'm not so good at remembering.

Anyways, I do have the perfect spot to plant one. Do you think it is too late?

hey ran, i bet you could get Jerry to save one for you...he gets them from a laundrymat i guess. i am still rinsing bubbles from this one - better not rain yet!

karen. point taken on the name, but the flower is worth the crazy name.

jill, it's a jackmani, probably the most common kind i think. i have tried and tried and tried to grow them, and they usually die. they do like sun on the "top" part, and a shaded root area. i have lilies growing around the base of this one, which is why i think it's happy. i have only planted in spring, but if you can still find one, i'm pretty sure it would be okay to plant now...
