well, i did it for the FIRST time yesterday!
not alot of firsts at 46, so i'll celebrate the day i ordered my first turkey to cook for thanksgiving. oh boy. kind of scary, no?
i am also a bit scared of all the recipes out there. i just bought one of those "bags" and a cute little roaster at walmart for $9.
i think i am set.
well, except for the mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, biscuits, cranberry salad, pecan and pumpkin pie!
what are y'all havin'?

We're having it ALL. The neighbors invited us to dinner, so I will be taking two kinds of stuffing (cornbread and a sage sausage and apple), pumpkin pie and a cranberry-ginger jelly recipe from Martha. Then, I will cook another Thanksgiving over here, just for the leftovers.
Some Karen Klasi girl wrote a really good turkey recipe on her site, maybe you should check that out.
he he...
saw it.
don't like the taste of champagne. AT ALL.
unless the turkey magically overpowers it completely out!
There is NO champagne taste, I promise. I even made this turkey for our very straight-laced pastors in Germany.
it's just so HARD to think of making my first turkey and pouring something vile over it :)
i promise i will try it one day. just not next thursday :)
Being the Food Network junkie that I am, I've tried cookin' the bird a lot of different ways. It's hard to beat the bag. I stuff some herbs, carrots, celery and onions in it for better gravy flavor.
Good Luck!
Maybe I'll just have to make it for you one day..
hey kmoss :)
i am thinking the bag is it for me. i'll take your advice about the "insides" too!
karen, please. i will come over to try your champagne turkey any time!! if it were just for me, i would be brave and try it :)
I totally agree with kmoss. The bag is the way to go! And adding the yummies to the inside makes it even better.
Don't worry it will be great.
i wish i was having all you girls here :))
me, too!!!
ok, if you really screw up i think there are some good thanksgiving buffets in town...but i have faith in you. are you going to make phil stick his hand in the butt?
Bobbi, if I can cook a turkey in a bag and not screw it up, you can too! I loved that the turkey actually came with instructions that any moroon can handle. And on a side not, Karen's champagne turkey was the best turkey I have ever had! Did not taste the champagne at all, but the turkey was soooo moist and juicey! Just sayin...
Yeah, what she said! Have you ever noticed that food posts always have the most comments???
Food and clothes!
