calling anybody!

anybody technically oriented, that is. i have decided that with the coming of the new year, i am going to jump into the smart phone realm. and i don't like to jump.

seriously, what should i get? it seems an iphone is just out of reach, since i cannot yet get one....but verizon has some nice knockoffs. that one above is the 'fascinate' - i do kind of like the name. and it's a little pretty.

what other things do i need?

:))

yeah, that. however, i'm going to drop my land line, so that will save a little of it.

i have a blackberry. i do love it--but i think i will go with something else when it is time to update in this upcoming year. i use google pretty heavily so i might be wise to venture that way.
I can't imagine you with anything but an iphone. especially with how heavily you are a mac girl. they are going to be with verizon in this next year? why not??

isn't at&t in sioux falls now? don't they provide iphone service? pretty sure there are iphones here in mitchell. you folks over there in the big city better get up on things :)

you know...now that at&t is officially here i am guessing you could buy the phone in omaha and get a SD number now. i could not get an SD number because it was not officially here. so maybe we should road trip and hook you up. i say iphone all the way!!!!!

:)

Carey... there are most certainly iphones around. but there is no AT&T (currently their only carrier) in these parts. piggy-banking off other providers adds up fast! verizon is supposed to begin carrying the iphone in early 2011.

My friend Teri came over with the new Microsoft phone the other day. It was schwanky. That, however, is the sum total of my knowledge on smart phones.

I have the free-with-contract Blackberry, and I heart it.

yeah. i am more of a verizon fan, i think...figuring if iphone ever gets here (with verizon), i can upgrade then....or when i can afford it :)

lots of people are saying blackberries are kind of sucky, but if carey likes hers, hmmmmmm.

What about a Droid? I know nothing about smart phones, but lots of Verizon people have Droids and seem to like them.

bobbione8y said...

well, is droid kind of like kleenex? i see that this one (fascinate) says it has droid capability. see. this is why i need help :)

Please don't do that one thumb/one finger texting like Carey does. Please.

i can hook you up with the geek squad over here at paulsen...

if its not a mac i am not helpful.

oh and at&t does not suck nearly as bad as it use to in sioux falls...

yes! ask! i still think verizon is better, based on all the reviews i have read....

i saw that gavin wigg bought the fascinate, which is what led me to ask :))

Okay, I just learned something from the Verizon website. Android is considered an operating system. Blackberry, Palm, etc. are different operating systems. So, there are a bunch of phones that use the Android OS. Some of the phones are specifically called Droids.

Schew! That was more info than I planned on learning today. :)

oh ellen! that makes sense. not exactly kleenex :)

you DID earn a big gold star today! thank you! i think the droid OS is one that most people say good things about....

Android is all the rage right now, that's for sure. But check the battery life on whatever android-based phone you're looking at...most of my friends that have them can't even get an entire day out of them...and they don't use them THAT much. I'm up for renewal and am tempted by Android...but will probably get another "boring" Blackberry. They're not all that "fun" but they JUST WORK. I get 2 days of battery life at least...and the user interface is easier to use than Android. That's my $.02.

yeah. that is a concern, Dave, esp. if i am giving up my landline.

i'm not sure i can give up my land line ;)) arrrrgggh.

going to wait until february for iphone....seriously. this is hard.
